I returned to the Aronoff to photograph the kids on Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday. Portraits were made of each of the children in their costumes. Below are more candids I took of the kids backstage.
The kids killed time playing games.
A make-up artist prepared the kids for the stage.
The soldiers were waiting to be called out for the battle scene.

Cincinnati Ballet Nutcracker Kids
Children of the Otto M. Budig Academy of the Cincinnati Ballet have an opportunity each year to perform in the Ballet's yearly performance of the Nutcracker. This year I have the honor of photographing the Nutcracker kids. My first day with them was during a technical rehearsal, during which time I took a few candids of them hanging around backstage and during spacing (in a nutshell, being at the right place at the right time on stage).
For some of these kids, this was their first time on the big stage. Looks like they are oohing and ahing at the hugeness of it all. The stage, indeed, is quite impressive.

Walnut Hills Performance of Rent
This Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, November 20, 21, and 22, at 7:30, the students of Walnut Hills High School will be performing Rent, a rock musical, which tells the story of impoverished young artists trying to make their way in New York. Yesterday, I photographed their dress rehearsal. This is a fine collection of young actresses and actors. Be sure to make it out to see their show.

West Clermont Dance Academy
West Clermont Dance Company of the West Clermont Institute for the Performing Arts (WeCIPA) performed last Friday, which, I believe, is their first school performance of the year. Be sure to make a note to yourself to check their web site at the end of April for the dates of their annual An Evening of Dance in May.
